  • Chlamydia & Gonorrhea

Chlamydia & Gonorrhea Urine Test detects the bacteria that causes infections with Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are both common sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) that often do not show any symptoms.

When detected both Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can be treated with antibiotics.

Periodic testing is recommended for men and women who are sexually active.

    - For a woman that has symptoms including pain or burning when urinating, increased/abnormal vaginal discharge, or abdominal pain or bleeding between periods

-For a man that has symptoms including burning after urination or ejaculation, itching of the penis, white, yellow, or green discharge from the penis, or swollen testicles

  • RPR (diagnosis) Syphilis Reflex to Titer and Confirmatory Test

RPR Syphilis Test or Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) Syphilis Test is a blood test used to screen you for Syphilis. It works by detecting the nonspecific antibodies that your body produces while fighting the infection. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the spirochete bacterium Treponema pallidum.

False-positive results have been associated in patients with infections, pregnancy, autoimmune disease, old age, Gaucher disease and malignancy.

  • HIV-1/2 Antigen and Antibodies Test, Fourth Generation, with Reflexes

HIV-1/2 Antigen and Antibodies Test, a 4th generation test, is designed as an aid to diagnose HIV-1/HIV-2 infection including primary HIV1 infection.

HIV infection is transmitted by sex and by sharing needles, although not curable it is manageable with medication. HIV weakens a persons immune system and may lead to AIDS.

Blood antibodies to HIV ½ implies that immune system has been previously exposed to it.

Current guidelines suggest that everyone should get a HIV test at least once.

  • Hepatitis C Antibody with Reflex to HCV, RNA, Quantitative, Reac-Time PCR Test

Hepatitis C Antibody with Reflex to HCV Test measures the Hepatitis C antibodies level and is used to screen for Hepatitis C infection.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends hepatitis C testing to all “baby boomers” (adult born from 1945 – 1965) and for anyone who has injected drugs.

The Hepatitis C infection typically affects the liver and if not treated can lead to cirrhosis, liver failure, liver cancer and other critical disorders. It is a disease transmitted by contact with blood.

  • Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Test (HBsAg)

Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Test is recommended to identify the hepatitis B virus, a disease that affects the liver.

Hepatitis B Surface Antigen is the earliest indicator of the presence of acute infection. Also indicative of chronic infection. This test is useful in the differential diagnosis of Hepatitis B.

The Surface Antigen Test looks for a protein present in the surface of the virus so is often ordered for people believed to have a recent exposure to someone else with Hepatitis B.

To diagnose hepatitis B in a pregnant woman additional test should be ordered such as liver enzymes.
