Stool Culture test is ordered if you are suffering or have suffered stomach problems such as diarrhea, blood in stool, stomach pain or cramping, nausea and fever.
The test is used to detect the presence of bacterial organisms including: Salmonella, Shiegella, Campylobacter, Culture and Shiga Toxin reflex E. Coli O157.
Stool Culture is recommended to determine if an infection is present in your digestive tract so that antibiotics can be prescribed to fight it.
A sample of your stool is needed for this test.
Turnaround time is typically 3-4 business days.
